Pay close attention to the springs. If any of them are broken, a garage door repair may be in order. Next, it may seem obvious but make sure your garage door motor is plugged in, and make sure it’s plugged into a working outlet. Then, check to see if it’s the garage door opener, not the garage door itself. Trying changing the batteries and making sure your garage door opener is clean. Finally, also check the cable. It is possible that it will break when a spring does.

Having
issues with your garage door opener? There are many issues and questions that

you get your garage door opener back up and running in no time.
When your garage
door opener won’t work…
Try moving
closer to your garage door when you hit the button to open or close it because
you might be out of range. Make sure the antenna that is on the motor unit is
hanging down. Check the remote’s batteries and change them. Or maybe the remote
needs to be reprogrammed. Premium Garage Door Service can help pinpoint the
issue and provide any needed repairs.
When your garage
door won’t close all the way…
The close
limit switch likely needs to be readjusted. Give us a call and we can come out
and see what needs to be done.
When your garage
door opener won’t work with my remote or wall switch…
It is
likely the power source has been disrupted. Make sure the unit is fully plugged
in and make sure you didn’t accidentally blow a fuse. If neither of these
solutions work, call our garage door company to come out and take a look.
When your garage
door immediately close after it opens…
The close
limit switch should be looked at. To be on the safe side and to make sure no
accidents occur, give our garage door company a call to schedule an
appointment.
What kind of warranty
you should look for…
Usually,
you will see at least a three-year warranty on the opener for your garage
doors, and it will usually cover the motor, the belt and the chain. Some brands
even offer a lifetime warranty! Just be sure you read all of the fine print so
you fully understand what is covered and what is not and for how long.

Summer Tips for a Noisy Garage Door
A noisy garage door if not addressed quickly can eventually become a
larger problem eventually requiring garage door replacement. Noisy garage doors
can be caused by any of the many springs, pulleys and cables that make the
opening system work. As garage door
installation experts in Lino Lakes, we would like to offer some of the reasons your garage door
could be making noise as well as how to keep your garage door working well all
summer.
You can
generally expect a garage door to last you for a decade or two after you have a
new one installed. But, once your garage door starts to act up, it may not be
long before you require garage door installation. Be sure you inspect your
garage door on a regular basis. About once a week or so, inspect the garage
door itself as well as the mechanisms to ensure everything is working as it
should. If you notice a part that is broken, frayed or worn through, call our
garage door company for assistance. Many parts of a garage door, especially the
springs, should only be repaired or replaced by a trained professional.
Inspect
When you
hear strange noises coming from your garage door, start by checking, tightening
and lubricating all parts of the opening system. Use a socket wrench to tighten
the nuts on the track system as well as tighten the opener chain and lubricate
the opener track, hinges, torsion bar bearings and springs. If none of these
work or if you are uncomfortable performing any of these tasks then contact the
garage door installation experts at Premium Garage Door Service for help.
It is
important to make sure your garage door opens and closes as it should to ensure
it lasts all summer. And, if your garage door is getting old and you would like
to look into a new garage door installation to update your home, now is a great
time of year to do it!
Pinpoint the Problem
By
identifying the type of noise your garage door is making, you can determine
what may be causing it. For example, a loud ticking sound could mean it’s the
rollers or a grating noise could mean it’s the coils. The well-trained ear of
an expert garage door installation specialist can listen to your garage door
and help pinpoint the problem.

The Right Door for Your Unique Garage Door Installation
In the midst of a renovation, purchasing a new home, or having a
home built, the right garage door may not be at the very top of your list. This
will be an aesthetic and practical choice you will faced with at some point.
Thankfully, your options are nearly endless in the pursuit of a new garage door.
Premium Garage Door Service can and will install any of a wide variety of
colored and styled garage doors. Conducting garage door installation
for Eagan area homes and businesses, we have a few suggestions on what
you should be pondering when it comes to making the ultimate decision on what
will be your new garage door.
What is the style of your unique home? How will your new door fit with
the style of your home? If your home is covered in intricate design or multiple
bold colors, than a more detailed and decorative garage door may be the choice
for you. If your home is plain Jane with a simple color scheme and largely free
of style accents, go with a garage door installation that yields a simple, even
understated garage door. No matter what choice you make, go with a door color
that helps it match with the color scheme of your home’s exterior.
If you are having a difficult time when it comes to choosing the
color, just take a look at the home itself. What color are your window frames?
If they are a different hue than is the rest of the home, what is it? If your
home is white but your window frames and general bordering are black, choose a
black garage door. Matching the new garage door to your home’s trim is
something of a mistake that a lot of homeowner’s make. Opting instead to match
your garage door installation choice with your trim will provide a uniform and
matching look that will not make it look too formal.
What about the minutia of your new garage door installation
option? 21st century garage doors bring with them the option of
things like windows, which you can most certainly choose. Maybe you want a high
end look with an elaborate handle for the bottom of the outside of the garage
door. Accessorizing on small levels that will not alter the functionality of
the door are entirely possible.
Make a
statement with garage installation at your Eagan home by calling Premium Garage
Door Service at 651-344-0489. Also contact us and Request Service!

Garage Door Rollers Require Your Care and Attention
A wide variety of garage door rollers exist, coming in different sizes, materials and strengths. The range of materials from which they are made are generally of metal or nylon varieties. You need to know which type of rollers to use in your garage door. Should your roller system become faulty, a chain reaction can occur, ultimately leading to a garage door replacement in your Lake Elmo home.
If you pick out a roller that is too short, your door can jump its tracks while it is opening or closing, causing potential damage to most of the components up and down the garage door like the opener, hinges and panels.
The weight of your garage door directly relates to how your rollers perform. A heavy door will put more pressure on the entire system, rollers included. This forces into action the general degradation of the door itself, leading ultimately to a full garage door replacement.
In regards to material, this influences just how noisy your garage door opener is—nylon being the obvious choice for quiet (vs. a metal roller). It is thought that functionality in metal or nylon rollers is relatively the same.
A faulty roller does not mean that it cannot be repaired. The roller just may not be on its proper course. Damaged garage door rollers are indicated by sound—screeching and scratching while opening and closing. A damaged or bad garage door roller is not good for your garage door, the system itself or for other components like the tracks, the motor and the way the garage door functions.
You must keep an eye on your rollers and how well they are functioning. The damaged roller can be catastrophic to the whole system—going with a garage door replacement is not ideal if it is just your rollers that are faulty. Garage door rollers break down in multiple ways. A typical roller is only meant to last a few years, the casing that holds the bearings can become loose, causing the bearings to not maintain their ideal position, which in turn effects the rollers, limiting their abilities to move the door.
Be mindful of your garage door rollers. If you begin to hear unpleasant sounds while the door is in use, give them a peak. See if you can spot whether they appear to be in a bad way. We can perform repairs to your existing rollers or replace them altogether.
For more information on rollers or garage door replacement in Lake Elmo or the surrounding areas, call Premium Garage Door Service at 651-344-0489, or you can contact us and Request Service.

Troubleshooting a Broken Garage Door Opener This Winter
When it’s cold outside, the frigid temperatures can wreak
havoc on some of your outdoor mechanisms. Machinery and gadgets that normally
work just fine suddenly stop working for no apparent reason. As a garage
door company in Forest Lake, we are often called on in the winter to fix
broken garage door openers. So here are a few ways you can troubleshoot the
problem and try to fix it on your own before calling us. And if these do not
work, do not hesitate to call us for help!
Our first suggestion is the most obvious, but it’s also
often overlooked: check the batteries in your garage door opener to make sure
they are still working. Old batteries can weaken the garage door opener signal.
If the batteries are fresh and that’s not the problem, you
should then take a few minutes to disconnect your garage door opener. Make sure
your garage door is down and disconnect the opener. Then try to manually open
the door. Take note of any spots where the door might be sticking on its way
up. If it’s sticking anywhere, that could be a sign of grease build-up.
Cleaning this can be a simple process, but if you are unsure, call a trusted
garage door company like us.
If there were no spots where the door got stuck, reconnect
the opener. Take a closer look at the garage door springs. If you notice that
one is broken, you should call our garage door company as soon as possible.
This is not a do-it-yourself fix. Broken garage door springs are a safety
hazard, so call us as soon as possible when you notice they are a problem.
You should also inspect the entire garage door and all of
its parts. So take a look at the tracks and make sure there are no
obstructions. Look at all of the rollers, hinges and other moving parts too.
They should all be moving freely. If not, call our garage door company and set
up an appointment as soon as possible.

Types of Garage Door Openers
There are several different types of garage door openers on
the market these days, and they all have their functions and benefits. As a garage
door company serving Hugo and the surrounding areas, we are often asked
about the different kinds of openers and which ones are the best. Here are a
few tidbits about openers and how to choose the best one for your garage.
Belt-drive
The belt-drive garage door opener system is very popular and
is increasing in popularity. This is mostly because it is so quiet and smooth
when it operates. If you are worried about the noise of a garage door opening
and closing, this is the opener for you. It works on garage doors of all shapes
and sizes, even heavy ones. While these are the more expensive ones on the market
today, it’s worth it for how quietly this one works!
Screw-drive
This type of garage door opener uses a lifting mechanism
that moves along a threaded steel rod. While the rods are very powerful, do not
worry! These garage door openers do not require a lot of maintenance or repair
work because they have the fewest moving parts, plus they are very easy to
install.
Chain-drive
This type of garage door opener uses a metal chain to lift
and lower the garage door. They are the most common type of opener and if you
have a garage door company install an opener for you, this is what they might
be most likely to recommend for you.
If you are worried about the safety of garage door openers,
let our garage door company reassure you with a few facts. Since 1993, the law
has required that all garage door openers have a safety mechanism that stops
and reverses a closing garage door if it senses an object moving underneath of
it.
