Many of the solutions will take a professional’s help to fix, but you can check a few simple things on your own if your garage door won’t open. First, do a visual inspection of your garage doors. Pay close attention to the springs. If any of them are broken, a garage door repair may be in order. Next, it may seem obvious but make sure your garage door motor is plugged in, and make sure it’s plugged into a working outlet. Then, check to see if it’s the garage door opener, not the garage door itself. Trying changing the batteries and making sure your garage door opener is clean. Finally, also check the cable. It is possible that it will break when a spring does.

If none of these work then it may be time to call in the experts for garage door repair. And as soon as you need garage door repair in Anoka, give us a call here at Premium Garage Door Service.

Protect Your Family with Garage Door Repairs

While repairing your garage door might not be high on your list of priorities, it should be. Don’t think of it as just a door or just the thing that lifts so you can park your car. It’s a complex piece of machinery, and when it’s not operating at 100% efficiency, it can become a hazard to you and your loved ones.

The average garage door can weigh anywhere from 300 to 400 lbs. If it were to fall down on a vehicle, it would severely damage it, not to mention what it could do if it struck a person or animal. Think serious injury … or worse.

Garage doors have built-in safety protection devices to lessen the occurrence of an accident. However, like with anything mechanical, components may tend to wear out or need readjusted. Therefore, it’s imperative to have your system checked regularly by a qualified technician for proper operation and calibration.

While you may feel tempted to do the repairs yourself, it would be best to trust this work to a garage door repair technician who knows exactly what he or she is doing. A tech who works regularly with garage door systems will know exactly what is plaguing your system, and will be familiar with the problem areas with that should be checked out.

Don’t compromise the safety or your property and family. Call us now at 763-607-3402 to schedule a checkup of your garage door system.

New Homeowners: Garage Door Repairs

If you just moved, you probably have 100 things on your mind. You probably haven't thought much further than unpacking and organizing your belongings. When you do have a minute to catch your breath, you may want to take a look around your home and visually inspect some aspects. One of these elements should be your garage door. You may have had a home inspection when you were buying your home, which may have provided you with some cursory information about your garage door, but now that you own your home, it's time to take a closer look at the garage door! If you end up needing any repairs, our Vadnais Heights garage door repair technicians will be able to help.

Garage Door Openers
It is now recommended any garage door openers installed before 1993 be replaced. Laws were updated in 1992 to require more technological features on all garage door openers. Since these upgrades have made such a positive impact, we encourage you to replace any older garage door openers you may have. If you just moved into your home, you may not be sure how old your garage door opener is. In this case, give us a call and we'll come inspect it.

Repair or Replace?
As a new homeowner, you may not be sure whether your garage door is worth repairing, or if it's just time to replace it. Again, you may not know how old it is, or what shape it's really in. In most cases, it won't be difficult for our Vadnais Heights garage door repair experts to make necessary adjustments to your garage door to keep it working properly. However, in the event that you do need a whole new garage door, we can help with that too.

To schedule a garage door repair appointment, give Premium Garage Door Service a call at 651-344-0489 or Complete a Service Request.

Garage Door Repairs for Summer

For those who didn't participate in spring cleaning, summer is a popular time to clean out the garage. Warmer weather can inspire residents of Shoreview to restore order inside and outside their homes. While you may be busy reorganizing the inside of your garage, you can't forget about your garage door. Put the broom down for a moment and take this opportunity to visually inspect your garage door. If you find anything out of the ordinary, our team of Shoreview garage door repair experts can help you get it back in working order.

Visual Garage Door Inspection
At Premium Garage Door, we can't stress enough how important it is to routinely check your garage doors. It is possible for you to catch any garage door repairs early and prevent a larger problem down the road. Below are some areas of your garage door to visually inspect:

  • Springs: Check the garage door springs, to make sure they are still wound appropriately. If your garage door springs break, you'll probably know right away. But, just to be sure, give them a look over. If they look like they're on their last leg, give us a call.
  • Door Track: If you notice any rust or bends in the track that shouldn't be there, it is important to get it taken care of right away. These issues could turn into costly repairs if you don't take care of them as soon as possible. Bends in the track make it hard for the garage door to operate smoothly.
  • Garage Door Opener: This is another item you will probably notice right away if it's broken right away. But, if you look at it and you notice anything out of the ordinary, let us know.
  • Windows: Check the windows of your garage door for any small cracks. These cracks can get larger with time. This can contribute to higher utility costs in your home, due to cold or warm air seeping in.

To have your garage door looked at by one of our Shoreview garage door repair experts, give us a call at 651-344-0489 or Fill Out a Service Request.

Importance of a Properly Functioning Garage Door: Keeps Bears Out

With National Garage Door Safety Month wrapping up, we'd like to remind you again just how important it is to keep your garage door completely closed and locked. Not only will it help you keep burglars out of your garage and your home, it'll also help you keep out other unwanted intruders; namely, animals, like the bear cub in the video below. The cub, who became trapped in the garage after crawling in under the door, crawled on top of the door's track and hung there until his mother arrived. Amazingly, the mother bear opened the garage door like a human and held it open while she called for her cub.

A garage door that closes and locks properly can help you keep guests like this one out of your garage. If you haven't had your door checked out in a while, you may want to get in touch with a Minneapolis garage doors company like Premium Garage Door Service to have it looked at. Regular maintenance to your garage door can keep it operating as intended, and can also help spot wear on certain components that could lead to larger, more expensive repairs in the future.

Make sure your garage door is working the way it's supposed to. Get in touch with Premium Garage Door Service today at (612) 234-4812 to schedule an appointment.

Checking On Your Automatic Opener

An automatic garage door opener can add a fair amount of convenience to your life. Think about living with a manual door in the past, which required you to get out of the car and open or close the door every time you wanted to enter or exit your garage. An automatic opener provides you with a remote control and the ability to open and close the door with the push of a button.

Of course, as is the case with anything that has moving parts, you may run into some issues down the line with your automatic garage door opener. That's why it's important to regularly check out these parts to ensure that the opener continues to function properly. Fuses can go bad, as well as power sources and switches, and the more mechanical parts, such as the pulleys and levers that are required for the garage door to physically open and close. By taking a look at these items occasionally to make sure everything looks good and no wearing has occurred, you can be sure your garage door will work as intended.

If you're already experiencing problems and you need a repair company to turn to, get in touch with Minneapolis garage doors repair company Premium Garage Door Service.

The Importance of a Properly Working Garage Door

Is your garage door currently in a state of disrepair? If so, you could be putting yourself at risk of being burglarized.

Some cities, like El Cajon, California, are seeing an increase in robberies as a result of burglars entering homes through open garage doors. If your garage door is not closing properly and it can either be opened easily or is partially open already, someone intent on invading your home could simply enter through that very easy passage and gain easier access to the inside of your home.

If your garage door is in need of some kind of repair to get it back into working order, you should absolutely not wait to take care of it. Get in touch with a St Paul garage door repair company like Premium Garage Door Service and schedule service on your garage door as soon as possible. It could mean the difference between staying protected or having your home burglarized. Call us today at (651) 344-0489 to make your appointment for a repair.

No, that's not an enormous dump truck stuck in that garage. There's not a race car or an airplane in the others, either. These are actually murals that are placed on your garage door to give the illusion that something more unbelievable is stored inside. The company has over 200 other designs, ranging from $230 (for a single door) to $450 (for double doors).

EZ-Set Garage Door Torsion Springs

While EZ-Set torsion springs look a lot like the more common standard torsion springs, the hardware differs significantly, as EZ-Set torsion springs are mounted to winders on the ends of a shaft.

Depending on the size of your garage door, it will likely use either one or two EZ-Set torsion springs. Wider garage doors will also have two shafts, as well as a coupler to join the two shafts.

If your broken garage door spring is an EZ-Set torsion spring, get in touch with Premium Garage Door Service to schedule a garage door spring repair.

Standard Torsion Springs for Garage Doors

As the most common type of garage door springs there are, standard torsion springs are usually found in installations of one or two springs, through four or more can be used for garages that require wide openings for large vehicles.

Standard torsion springs can be installed in one of four different configurations: the linear system, the duplex system, the triplex system, or the mixed system. The linear system is used mostly on wide garage doors. The duplex system uses two larger springs, and each spring has a smaller spring inside. The triplex system is much like the duplex system, except three springs are inside the outer spring instead of two. Finally, the mixed system uses a combination of the linear system and either the duplex or triplex system.

If your garage uses standard torsion springs, the professionals at Premium Garage Door Service are experienced in installing them in any kind of setup. Whether your garage utilizes the linear, duplex, triplex, or mixed systems, we'll safely install your springs and get your garage door working like new. Give us a call today to get started on your garage door spring replacement or repair.
